Teacher Appreciation

I know teacher appreciation was over a week ago, but I have been trying to make this post for several days. Blogger would not let me post pictures for some reason. Anyway, this is one of the gifts we made for my youngest daughter's Kinder teacher. She is really an amazing woman. I cut the wording out in black vinyl and placed it on the outside of the frame. I put a piece of silver card stock on the inside. Then I included a bow at the top with a blingy broach. I love how it turned out. This was only one of the gifts we made. I will try to get the other ones to post later.

I have been looking at the Sillohette Cameo for some time now. I currently own 2 Cricuts and the Gypsy. I want the freedom to create my own files again with Makethecut...which I have been doing with my Cricut still since I refused to update the firmware. Burst Bow

This is my first attempt at the burst bow. If you have not heard of this before it is really an awesome bow. There is a tutorial n YouTube. If you put "burst bow" in the search field it will be the first result. The tutorial is from Mommycraftsalot. She really does have some great tutorials. I used some fun colors, and i think it came out great.

Back after a long time away

Well I think I have officially made it back to the blogging world. I am so excited to be back, and even more excited to now be able to craft again. We made it into our new home, and have finished the craft room. Now it is ready for many creations. I am also happy to be back to seeing what everyone else out there have been creating, and excited to see new ideas and techniques. So as of now I am going to try to post at least 2 to 3 times a month to begin with then more as I can. I also hope that I can get in on some blog hops and such.
I hope everyone out there is doing well. Now time for some pics...these are pics of my new heaven.

Going to be out for a month or so

Well we finally have the closing date on our house. It is only 3 months later than planned, but now it is here. We do out walk though in 10 days, and close in 18 days. That being said it is time for me to get off the computer, and start packing. We are moving in the weekend of the 25th. I will be so very happy to be in the new home I just do not like the moving part. We never did fully unpack all of our things because we knew we would be moving soon. I know my husband will be happy because I am more than willing to get rid of some things now that we have not had a use for them in 8 months. I plan to do most of the packing and unpacking as my plan if sor him to build my table for my wonderfyl new craft room. The table should be awesome. The plan is for it to be 5ft x 6ft. He is going to make it counter height so I can sit or stand comfortably at it. I will have storage underneath it as well because of the size of it. We had outlets put in the middle of the room in the floor because we knew the table was going to be this big. He is going to drill a hole in the middle of the table for me to just be able to drop cords down, and they will be out of the way. I am so super excited about this. Once the table is in we will figure out the rest of the sotrage that we are going to put in. I do know along one wall will be a countertop of some sort with cabinets. I will post pictures as the process goes. I can not wait to get in that room and start playing. My girlies are so excited too. Happy New Year and embroidery work

First I want to send out a HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. I hope that your holidays were filled with love, laughter, family and friends. We had a wonderful Christmas here in south Texas with 80 degree weather. I love the weather here so very much. I prefer warmth to cold any day. Today it is in the low 50's, and you would think it is blizzard conditions outside. I do get a little cracked up when I see people bundled up for a snow storm that is never coming. I do understand that people from here are not used to the cold so anything below 70 is freezing. We went out shopping a couple of days ago when it was in the low 60's..my husband had shorts on, and I had capris on. Everyone thought we were crazy. We had a good laugh.
A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to do some embroidery work on a couple of towels for her bathroom. They have the nautical theme, and she told me kind of what she was looking for. The below is what I ended up creating for her. She is so in love with them...thank goodness.
So one last thing then I will quit boring you, and be on my way to do laundry (I know...don't be jealous.) Our house is STILL not complete. It should have been done the end of October. The last word we got was that it would be complete January 22nd. Well that was until we told them they had to fix a really big screw up they made on the floor in the second floor bedroom. So as of today I don't know if our date has changed or not. I am so anxious to get into the house so I can get all my crafting stuff out of storage, and get my new craft room up and running. The closer it gets the worse I get.

My first embroidery project

Well my wonderful husband bought me the Singer embroidery machine that I wanted for my birthday. I finally have done something with it, and it only took me 2 ½ months. A friend of mine wanted some hand towels for her mother-in-law for Christmas so I agreed to do them. The first one I tried failed miserably because of me of course. I was not lifting the presser foot before I changed the thread…who knew that would be such a big deal? Well I of course didn’t. So the thread would bunch up under the towel in the bobbin area..I think it is called a bird’s nest, not too sure about that. Anyway after much frustration, a ruined towel, and lots of reading I finally got it to work. I think in the end they turned out great. She seemed to really like them and, of course, that is all that matters.

Help deciding on a new cutter

I am looking for suggestions on the available cutters that are out there. I currently have 2 Cricuts, but I am wanting a cutter where I can use Make the cut. I do have the plugin that allows continued use of the Cricut with make the cut, but with the newest version of make the cut the plug in will no longer work. I do not plan to get rid of my Cricuts. I want a cutter that handles intricate cuts as well as being able to cut foam and chip board. If any of you could provide me with suggestions of what to buy or what not to buy I would so appreciate it.

My daughter's 13th Birthday

 I  never did get a get around to posting the pictures from my daughter's 13th birthday...Now here is where I hide my head...this was a year ago now. She just turned 14. My computer has crashed 2 times since then, and I was not sure what happened to the pictures. Today I found them...I was so excited. I do have to say though it makes me realize just how fast time does pass. I can not believe that it has been a year already. So, like her room makeover, her birthday was black and white damask with fuschia (or hot pink in some cases). I made a paper cake that we used for the goodie boxes. We put mirrors, nail polish, and lipstick in them. We also had fans with the damask pattern as well as manicure sets. Because I know how cups get all mixed up at parties I made each one of the girls their own cup. I bought the cups, and cut out each name in vinyl with my E. This was also something they got to take home with them. Meag (my daughter) wanted red velevet cupcakes, and she wanted me to make them not buy them..(of course)...so I cut out the cupcake wrappers on my E to go around them. There were other goodies as well that the girls got to take home. One of Meag's favorite movies is Finding Nemo...so we put a sheet across the fence in the back yard, and the girls watched the movie outside. We also set up a tent for them, and they all slept outside all night long. We did refrain from sneaking up on them and scaring the bageebas out of them, but I wanted to;). The party was a great success.

Help with blog makeover

While stalking ;) many blogs I am amazed by all the awesomeness that people have created. I like to think of myself as some what computer savy, but for he life of me I can not figure out how to create my own blog design. So I am hoping that someone out there in blog land can point me in the right direction. I plan to be much more active with my blogging, and I want my blog to be something I am in love with, and right now I'm not. I currently using a template that I found online..nothing personal to call my own....Sooooo enough of my whining...if anyone could please help me with information on how to accomplish this I would so appreciate it.

Long time no post

Well it has been quite some time since I have made a post. Since we sold our house and are waiting for our new one to be completed I am not able to get a lot of crafting done. I am going BANANAS!!! We put all my crafting supplies into storage...only after my loving husband agreed to get a climate controlled storage facility. Well lately I have been buying more and more crafting supplies again. I just hope I do not have too many duplicate items sitting in storage. There was no way I could go cold turkey though. So even though I have not made any cards lately (which is my most favorite thing to do) I have been busy doing some other things. I decided that the colors for my new craft room are going to be black white and turquoise. I am repurposing bins, making over a filing cabinet, and crocheting a blanket specifically for the craft room. I will post some pics of those items as they are completed. I am getting rather excited as the house is nearing completion. We have walls inside now, and the brick and stone are up on the outside. I can not wait for the house to be complete so that I can get in there and get my craft room decorated then up and running.
Well I have made this long enough. I look forward to getting back into posting on my blog, and reading others.

Life without crafting lately

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything, and it will be a while longer. We have placed our house on the market to sell, and plan to get a bigger one..I am very excited about this because I will finally have my own craft room. No more pulling stuff out use it then have to pout it all away again so we can use the table to eat. However, until we get the new house all my crafting stuff is in storage. I have so much that it was easier to pack it all up. I told my husband we had to get a climate controlled unit so the weather (heat here) did not ruin anything. I am bummed because I can do any crafting at all, but I so look forward to my new craft room. I have been scouring the internet to get ideas on all the storage that is out there. I have also been looking at other craft rooms for inspiration. I will still "stalk" other blogs and such because I don't want to miss all the new gadgets and gizmos as well as any new tips and tricks. I have a list of all the new things I must buy once I am settled in. I will be sure to post pictures and such once we get in the new house. Until then we are just waiting until someone put an offer in on our so we can move forward. I look forward to seeing all the projects you all create.

Been away for a while

Well I have missed stalking blogs for a while now. Life has been crazy busy lately which has given me no time to keep up with my blog, or look at anyone elses. I am ready to get back to it though. I have missed it so much. I have started making my christmas cards finally...I am behind the curve on this as well. One of the things that has had me so busy is a college class I am taking. My final is next week then I can focus focus focus on my Christmas crafts. I am so looking forward to see what everyone has been up to since I have been MIA..

Room Makeover COMPLETE!!! YAY!!!

My daughter's room is finally finished...We have worked on and off for several months to get everything done. We did this for her 13th birthday. We needed to change the little girl things to teenager stuff (sniffle sniffle)...I was able to go in and change everything while she was gone this past weekend so it would be a little bit of a surprise for her. The only thing that I did that she did not know about was the clock that I made. Needless to say she was so excited when she got home. She had told me a 1000 times how much she loved it. I am so happy to have done it for her. She is an awsome smart girl that deserve all the greatness in life. Now for the pictures. The first two are before then the rest are after...but I am pretty sure all you wonderful people would have figure that out ;)..

Invitation

These are the invitations we made for my daughter's 13th Birthday. This is the theme we are re-decorating her room in. They turned out great. I can wait to see her room when it is all complete. We have been buying things, and refurbishing items. The weekend before her birthday we are going to go in take all the items out (those left that we did not refurbish), and put all the new in. She is so excited and cant wait. The only thing that she is currently allowed to have before the room makeover is the new chair we bought for the room. The rest she has to wait for.

I used coordinations paper, cuttlebug, K and company butterfly and Cri-kits.
I wanted it to be simple yet elegant. I think I accomplished that.
